The Fenway, a section of Boston that covers a section just to the West of Back Bay, gets its name from an old English word, "Fens", which means salt-marsh land.  According to legend, Frederick Law Olmstead, who designed the Fenway's landscape, held a contest for its naming.  He liked that "Fens" was a word that had disappeared from the modern vernacular and wanted to re-introduce it to the Bostonian neighborhood.  

These days, the word Fenway is probably more readily associated with the name of the historic baseball park at which Boston's Red Sox play their home games.  

In the Fenway area, you'll also find two of the country's most notable museums (the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner).  T service is easy to reach with several of Boston's Green Line stops throughout.  

With the seemingly overnight development of many luxury apartment and condominium buildings along Boylston and Brookline Streets, The Fenway is home to the ultra-modern and classic turn-of-the-century homesteads.
