Jamaica Plain is one of the most community-oriented and vibrant neighborhoods in Boston. 

It borders  Brookline,  Mission Hill,  Roxbury,  Dorchester and Roslindale and it boasts some of the most beautiful public park space in Greater Boston and is the centerpiece of Frederick Law Olmstead's Emerald Necklace.

Residents of JP, as it's known locally, have access to the postcard-esque Jamaica Pond, the Arnold Arboretum, Franklin Park, the Arborway foot path, and the world renowned Forest Hills Cemetery.  With an abundance of greenspace, a burgeoning array of great restaurants and shops, and an involved and socially committed populace, it's no wonder Jamaica Plain has enjoyed some insulation from the housing market woes that began in 2006.

It was once used for the summer residences of wealthy merchants who lived and worked nearer to the harbor. Accessed by Washington Street, Columbus Avenue, Huntington Avenue and the Jamaica Way, JP has four stations on the Orange Line subway, one stop (Heath Street) on the Green Line Trolley and several bus lines.  

With several different 'micro-areas' Jamaica Plain, each with its own center of gravity and appeal, there is a lot to consider if you're thinking about moving here:  Pondside, Parkside, Moss Hill, Hyde Square, Forest Hills, Stonybrook, and Sumner Hill are the major areas.  

While I assist buyers and sellers all over Greater Boston, I have a personal stake in JP as this is where I have called home since the 1990's.
